Intro to Pranayama Techniques

In Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga, pranayama is the fourth-- that which follows postural work. Literally meaning "the control of energy" -- when done as a separate practice, practitioners have a chance to go further inside their mind-body organism and discover the freedom yoga promises. There is so much beauty and wonder to be had inside, and its as simple as beginning to listen to your breath..

When practiced properly pranayama can aid with anxiety management, sleep quality, and respiratory issues. It can illuminate parts of your asana practice where postures seem restrictive and challenging, bringing an even quality to them. It also helps to open the door to the other limbs that provide far reaching benefits.

Join Michael for a practical and intelligent dissection of pranayama techniques. Everyone can expect to leave with a practice that they can easily incorporate along side their daily contemplative practices based on their current needs and situation.

Deconstructed Vinyasa Patterns: The Psoas

with Michael Joel Hall

Whats the psoas? For many, it's the biggest muscle that goes unutilized. Connecting the top and bottom of the body from the front and back, the psoas can be both incredibly illusive and remarkably important. Locating and getting intimate with the deep center lines of the body helps promote a sense of well being, incredible expansiveness, and impossible strength. Impacting breathing, walking, backbending, forward folding, and twisting, the psoas is worthy of inquiry.

Ashtanga yoga is a central axis meditation, and during the course of this workshop, we'll look at ways to awaken the body's innate wisdom by furthering your inquiry into the central axis of the body and the psoas. Join Michael on the hunt for the psoas through fresh postural alignments, supplemental vinyasa routines, and a curious attitude-- all of which can be easily integrated into your regular practice or function as a stand-alone contemplative and therapeutic practice.

Michael will use props, verbal cues, and hands-on assists designed to elicit subtle movements deep within the body. This playful workshop will both challenge and excite practitioners of all levels.

Intro to Ayurveda

In this workshop we will explore an introduction to Ayurveda including; the 5 elements, the 3 dosas and their qualities, daily/seasonal/life rhythms, and Samkhya philosophy.

This workshops is geared towards students that are new to Ayurveda, and who want understand how the system works and what is is based on. This workshop is essential for those who want to move deeper into their study of Ayurveda, and it is designed to give you an intuitive understanding of how the elements work, not just information to memorize.

You will leave this workshop with an understanding of how each of the elements manifest in your body (your unique constitution or dosha), and how to use this information to bring your mind and body into balance.

Daily Habits of Ayurveda

In this workshop we will delve deeply into 10 simple and effective daily Ayurvedic habits to live with more energy, clarity, and focus.

This workshop is geared towards students who either have some knowledge of Ayurveda, or who have taken the introduction to Ayurveda workshop. We will build on the knowledge of the elements and doshas to design our daily habits.

You will leave this workshop with a plan for how to take incremental steps towards a life of more connectivity, ease, energy, and focus.
