We teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in what is called "Mysore style" as it is taught in Mysore, India. This method allows the teacher to work with students individually in a group so that every one has an experience tailored to their personal need. Students can arrive at any time during the scheduled 2.5 hour block of time and leave when they have finished their practice.
New students are NOT expected to know the sequence. The teacher will guide students repeatedly through a series of poses until the student memorizes them. We start with a few poses and add a few more on each day until enough of a sequence is established for a student. From there, the teacher will physically and verbally adjust students in the room challenging them and holding space for them to move at their own pace.
It is ideal if students practice a minimum of three times per week to notice changes in the physical practice and daily life behavior.
